"Pioneer P.-T.A. Leader Succumbs".
    "Mrs. Ida E. Lawyer, 66, first life member of Alhambra High School P.-T.A. and for years a leader in its work, died today [18 Feb 1944] in St. Luke Hospital.  Her home was at 30 North Third Street, and she had lived in Alhambra 60 years.  In addition to other P.-T.A. offices, she was a member of the P.-T.A. Thrift Shop board of directors.  She attended the First Presbyterian Church.
    She leaves her husband A.A. Lawyer, a daughter, Mrs. Betty E. Kimball, San Gabriel; two sons, Richard, San Marino, and Lewis, Morgan Hill; two brothers, Frank T. and George Olson, both of Alhambra; and three grandchildren.  Funeral arrangements in charge of Turner, Stevens & Turner will be announced later."

"Death Claims A. A. Lawyer".
    "Arthur A. Lawyer, who had made his home in this city for the last 40 years, died this morning [12 May 1945] at his home, 30 North Third Street, following a lingering illness.  Funeral services will be announced later by Turner, Stevens & Turner.
    Mr. Lawyer, who is a member of Alhambra Lodge No. 322, F.& A.M. and of Al Malaikah Temple of the Shrine of Los Angeles, was associated with the Olson Lumber Company on Fremont Avenue where he was employed for more than 30 years, serving part of that time as office manager.
    He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Kimball of San Gabriel; two sons, Richard E. Lawyer of San Marino and Louis[sic] O. Lawyer of Morgan Hill, Calif., a sister and a brother, Lorraine Lawyer and Elmer E. Lawyer, both of Iowa City."
