Notes: James Raphael Bunker was born 21 Feb 1905 in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake, Utah. He was adopted by James Lang Bunker and Katrina Wilhelmina.

In the 1910 U.S. census, James, 8, was living with his parents, James L. Bunker, 48, and Catherine, 38, in Gunlock, Washington, Utah. His father was a farmer and owned the farm free of mortgage.

In the 1920 U.S. census, James R., 14, was living with his parents, James L. Bunker, 58, and Catherine, 52, in Veyo, Washington, Utah, 5 miles north of Gunlock. His father was was still a farmer and owned the farm free of mortgage.

James R. Bunker married Adele Slack on 26 Feb 1928 in the St. George Temple, St. George, Utah. In the 1930 U.S. census, James R. Bunker, 25, and Adele S., 25, were living in Veyo, Washington, Utah. James was a laborer doing odd jobs. They had one son, James D. 1¾.

In the 1940 U.S. census, James Bunker, 35, and Adell, 34, were still in Veyo, Washington, Utah. James was now a farmer, working on his own account with an income of $400. plus other income. They owned their home, valued at $1000. He had completed 2 years of high school and Adele had completed 4 years of high school. Their family had grown, and included James Darrel, 11, 4th grade, Beverly, 9, 3rd grade, and Katherine, 7, 1st grade.

On 16 Oct 1940, James Raphael Bunker, 35, registered for the World War II draft in Veyo. He was described as 5'9", 170 lbs., dark complexion, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

In the 1950 U.S. census, James R. Bunker, 45, and Adell, 44, were living at 100 South 300 West, in St. George, Washington, Utah. James was now an automobile salesman with his own business. Their children at home were Katherine, 17, Garth, 7, and Carma L., 5.

Throughout the years, James was an active member of the LDS Church, and served on a church mission in the Southern States. Adele died 24 Feb 1966, and James married Della Leavitt on 19 May 1967 in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada. They made their home at 132 South 200 West St., St. George. For 12 years he was a maintenance supervisor at Dixie College in St. George.

James Raphael Bunker, 63, died 2 Jun 1968, at Dixie Memorial Hospital, St. George. Cause of death was a heart attack. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 5 June at the St. George Second Ward Chapel. He was buried in the St. George City Cemetery beside his first wife Adele.
