| Newspapers.com. The Daily Spectrum (St. George, Utah) Thu. Oct 7, 1982, p. 6, col. 1 ST. GEORGE — Lorna Perkins Worthen, 84 of St. George died Tuesday, Oct 5, 1982, at the St. George Care Center. The first of 12 children born to Ute Voris and Lovina Ellen Whitney Perkins, she was born on Jan. 2, 1898 in Overton, Nev., She attended Dixie College and graduated in 1931. She married Vernon Worthen in the St. George LDS Temple on June 11, 1918. The couple had just celebrated their 64th anniversary. She has had an active life of membership in the LDS Church serving as stake MIA president, stake Primary officer and ward Relief Society president and secretary. As a devoted wife and mother, she raised her family, , hosting many general authorities of the LDS Church while her husband served 28 years in bishoprics and stake presidencies. She also was a member of the Vista Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She is survived by her husband of St. George; daughter, Aileen W. Walker Orem; son, Vernon LaVon Worthen of Albany, Ore,; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Vera Moss, Morace Perkins, Clara Logan, Maurice Perkins all of Upper Muddy, Nev., Dale Perkins, Alamo, Nev. and Lenore Clay, of Las Vegan, Nev. Two children died as young children, one daughter and one son. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. in the LDS 5th and 6th Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Metcalf Mortuary Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 until time of services at the chapel. Burial will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. | ||||
