Open House Will Honor 85th Birthdays of Provo Couple
      Mr. and Mrs. N. Alma Peterson of Provo will celebrate their 85th birthdays by being honored at an open house at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B. Vern Bullock, 2000 N. 80 E., Provo, Saturday, Feb 23, from 3 to 9 p.m.
     Mr. Peterson was born Feb. 28, 1878, at Lehi, the son of Nels Mathias Peterson and Mary Elizabeth WoodwardMrs. Peterson, the former Annie Walker, was born Feb. 7, 1878, at Spring Valley, Lincoln County, Nev., the daughter of Francis Walker and Elizabeth Staheli.
      They were married in the Salt Lake Temple Oct. 9, 1900.  The early years of their marriage were spent in Eureka, where Mr. Peterson was engaged in mining operations.  In 1918 they moved to Provo where they have since resided.
      Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have both been active members in LDS church organizations.  Mrs. Peterson, is an honorary Golden Gleaner, has a 25-year Primary service pin, has been a Relief Society teacher for 50 years, and is a member of the Daughters of Pioneer and Alice Louise Reynolds Club.  Mr. Peterson, for health reasons, has been inactive for the past several years, but continues as a student of the scriptures and is presently engaged in writing a geography of the Book of Mormon.
      They are the parents of nine children:  Karl A. Peterson, Price; Mrs. George R. (Verda) Bollschweiler, Salt Lake City; Lawrence Peterson, Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. B. Vern (Clara) Bullock, and Leone Peterson, Provo.; Owen Peterson, El Paso, Tex.; Mrs. Wilson (Zella) Street, Pittsburgh, Calif.; Mrs. Kendell (Elayne) Rasmussen, and Vernon Peterson, Idaho Falls, Ida.  They also have 29 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
