Notes:  Alma was born 2 Feb 1888 in the Blue Ridge mountain area of Napa County, California, where her parents had a cattle ranch.  She was the third child of George Washington Samuels and Lucy Mildred Coleman.  She attended the old Monticello School. In the 1900 U.S. census, Alma C. Samuels, 12, was living with her mother, Lucy, 35, on Blue Mountain, Knox Twp., Napa.  Her father, George, 36, was living in Vacaville, Solano.  The family was counted in both places.  Her siblings were Walter Samuels, 16, Edith M. Samuels, 14, Bessie E., 10, Nora A., 8, Millie, 5, and Gerna B., 2.  Gerna Belle, died on 13 Nov 1900 at age 1 year and 4½ months.  Her brother Osmond was born about 1902.  Edith attended the old Monticello School. Alma worked on the ranch until her parents decided to move in 1905 to 21 North Street in the town of Napa.  Alma joined the First Presbyterian Church in Napa on 1 Jun 1906. The photograph at the right shows Alma and her family in 1908.  She married Walter Henry Buck on 26 Sep 1909 in Napa. The photograph below shows her with her sisters and father circa 1942. Alma and her husband Walter owned and operated a prune ranch on the Old Sonoma Road until Walter's retirement in 1950.  Thereafter they lived in a cinder block house at 211 Casswall Street near the Old Sonoma Road. Alma passed away in 1990 at age 102 years, 10 months, and 20 days.  She is buried with her husband in the Buck lot at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa.
