In Apr 1901 William was 26 years old, single, and living in Palmerston Town, North Wellington, Ontario. He said that his occupation was Captain Salvation Army. He married Annie Carley seven months later in Kent.
In Sep 1902 William and his wife lived in the town of Hespeler which was in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario. On the 27th of that month they traveled to to Forest, Lambton County, and attended the funeral of William's sister-in-law, Ella Hancock.
In Jun 1911 William, his wife, and their daughter lived at 10 London Street East in Windsor, Essex County, Ontario. William gave his occupation as Salvation Army Officer.
In Sep 1912 William traveled with his wife and daughter to Corning, California, to visit his parents. This was their first trip to the U.S. William was described as being 5' 11½" tall, with a ruddy complexion, and blue eyes.
