Mary E. Palzkill, age 87, passed away on Sunday, Oct 5, 2008, at the Mineral Point Care Center, after a long illness.  The former Mary Detwiller was born on May 5, 1921, in Cooperstown, N.D., the daughter of Harry and Lillian (Williams) Detwiller.  She graduated from Cooperstown High School and Minneapolis Business College, Minneapolis, Minn.  On Sept. 5, 1942, she married Herman Palzkill at St. Michaels Church, Milwaukee.  He preceded her in death on March 22, 1996.  Mary was employed as a bookkeeper in Milwaukee until her marriage and later used her accounting skills for the farm business and bookkeeper for several of her children.  She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Christian Mothers/Altar Society.  Mary is survived by three daughters, Judy (Norm) Montgomery of Beloit, Rita (Jerry) Whitford of Montana, and Joyce (Rod) Phelps of Madison; 11 sons, James (Carol), Ed, Mark, Roger (Patty), Brian (Barb), Joe (Cindy), Bruce (Anne), all of Mineral Point, David of Tuscon, Ariz., Ronald (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Wayne of Edgerton, and Scott (Linda) of Linden; 26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; a brother, Patrick Detwiller of Fargo, N.D.; a sister, Catherine Zimprich of Aneta, N.D.; sister-in-law, Betty Detwiller of Cooperstown, N.D.; a brother-in-law, George (Ann) Palzkill of Milwaukee; and further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Judy Palzkill; great-graddaughter, Mandy Ray; grandson-in-law, Paul Chambers; brother William Detwiller; sister-in-law,Mary Detwiller; and brother-in-law, Joe Zimprich.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point.  Family and friends may call at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mineral Point Library Fund or St. Mary's/St Paul's building fund.  The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dunn and Father Hinnen for their loving care and compassion and to the staff of the Uplands Hills Health and Hospice and Mineral Point Care Center.
