Click to enlarge Notes:  In 1870, when Henry Alexander Detwiller was 13, his father John McNaught moved his family to "Deerbank Farm", located on Conc. 18, Lots 30, 31, and 32, Grey Twp., Huron, Ontario.  This farm had originally been owned with mortgage by John's oldest son Thomas McNaught.  Henry finished growing up on this farm.   A two-story log house occupied part of lot 32.  John McNaught died 8 Dec 1873, and his farms were left to his wife Margaret.  In 1880, she divided them among her sons and stepsons.  Henry Alexander became the owner of Lots 31 and 32 of Conc. 18, the majority of Deerbank Farm.  Margaret lived with Henry's family until her death on 10 Sep 1889.

Click to enlarge Deerbank was the farm and home of Henry and Rebecca McNaught for many years.  Alberta (Bert) was born in 1882, followed by Russell in 1884, David Vernon in 1885, Minnie Ethel in 1888, Harry Lorne in 1889, all recorded in the 1891 Canada census records.  James Fergus was born later in 1891, followed by Ida Beth in 1896, and Sarah Mildred in 1899.

The 1901 Canada census shows the entire family living at Deerbank.  Sarah died later in 1901, just short of her second birthday.  In the 1911 Canada census, only Alberta, Minnie, James and Ida were living at home.  In the 1921 Canada census, only Minnie Ethel and Ida Beth were at home.  Harry Trampton, 28, was living with the family

Henry and Rebecca moved into Monkton about 1927.  James Fergus became the beekeeper, and the land remained in the McNaught family for many years.
